Day 1: AIRPORT/CRYSTAL PARADISE – You will be met at the airport by your Belizean bird guide and transferred to your jungle lodge accommodations. There will be opportunities for birding along the way as we drive through a number of habitats such as mangrove swamps, pine savannahs and later jungle. We check into our accommodations at Crystal Paradise after a short orientation. O/N Crystal Paradise Resort. L/D

Day 2: GUIDED BIRD-WALK/ MACAL RIVER CANOEING (Half day) – Pre-breakfast bird-walk on the grounds at Crystal Paradise. Some of the Belize birds we hope to see include a number of Tanagers, Tityras, Woodcreepers and Parrots. Lesson’s Motmot, Golden-olive woodpecker and the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls, Aracaris, band-backed, Green jays, Red-capped Manakin Wrens are also a common sight. Easy morning to hang out explore on your own after a late breakfast.

Leisurely canoeing on the Macal River. While canoeing we have the chance to see Neotropic Cormorants, Sungrebe, Mangrove Swallows, Russet- naped Wood-rails, Amazon Kingfisher Green Kingfisher, Squirrel Cuckoos, and other wildlife that frequent the river banks such as iguanas sunning themselves on the rocks and trees. Breakfast, lunch,, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

Day 3: MOUNTAIN PINE RIDGE ( 1/2 to 2/3 day)– Early departure to the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Here we have the opportunity to see yellow faced Grassquits, Rufous-capped Warblers, Acorn Woodpeckers, Yellow-backed Orioles and Golden-hooded Tanagers. Black headed Siskins can often be seen flying in flocks. There is a strong possibility of seeing the orange-breasted falcons and king vultures by The 1,000 Ft. Falls (Hidden Valley). We have seen the Lovely Cotinga 8 out of 10 trips other birds include Ornate hawk-eagle, Black-and-white Hawk-eagle and the Stygian Owl. Day 4: LAGUNA AGUACATE/WETLANDS ( Half day) – After an early breakfast we drive to Laguna Aguacate near the Mennonite community of Spanish Lookout. We encounter many different habitats on this trip, such as savannah, open farmland, and subtropical forest around the lake. In the open land and pastures it is easy to find vermillion flycatchers, fork-tailed flycatchers, yellow-rumped warblers, Crested Caracara, White-tailed kites, Laughing Falcons, Aplomado falcon. A number of herons, Teals and sand pipers, Black necked Stilts, Jabiru stork, An array of woodcreepers such as the northern barred, Strong billed, Ivory billed, You can easily see the Gartered Trogon, Black headed Trogon, Slaty-tailed Trogon and the occasional Collared Trogon. White -whiskered and the White-necked Puffbirds, Rufous tailed Jacamars, Chesnut-collared woodpecker, Plain Xenops and much more.

Day 5: CARACOL (FULL DAY)After breakfast we drive to Caracol. The road travels through the Mountain pine ridge and over a series of creeks, through lush tropical forest and pine forest, habitat for a variety of bird species. The highest canopy rainforest is home to several species of cats, as well as rare birds such as the Keel-Billed Mot Mot, Crested Guan, Great Curassow and the Ocellated Turkey. A wide variety of orchids, vines and trees are also found in the area. This site is home to the tallest man-made structure in Belize, Canna (sky palace), standing some 143 ft above the plaza floor. This tour can be combined with a visit to the Rio Frio Caves and the Rio On Pools on the way back. Here we have the opportunity to see Tody Motmot, Buff-throated Foliage gleaner, Black-cheeked Woodpecker, Golden-hooded Tanagers. Rufous Piha, Rusty sparrows, Olive- backed Sparrows, Green-backed Sparrow, Bat Falcon, Gray headed kite, Great Black Hawk, Scarlet Macaws, king Vultures, purple crowned fairy and many more.  Breakfast, lunches, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise

Day 6: DEPARTURE – Return transfer to Belize City or International Airport after a fun filled Belize birding vacation.
