Day 1: ARRIVAL – BELIZE INT’L AIRPORT / CROOKED TREE – After clearing immigration and customs you are met by your guide and travel the Northern Highway to Crooked tree village inside the Belize wildlife sanctuary and check into your accommodations in time for dinner. There will be areas to stop for birding along the way. Dinner & Overnight Bird’s Eye View Lodge.

Day 2: CROOKED TREE – We will spend most of the day birding on the Crooked Tree Reserve trails and along the lagoon side. Some of the birds we may see include Purple Gallinule, and array of Kingfishers, Snail kites, Savannah Vultures, Spotted Sandpipers, Solitary Sandpipers, Vermillion Flycatchers, Social flycatchers, Kingbirds, Yucatan Jay, Rufous browed Peppershrike, Bobwhites, Yucatan Woodpeckers and more. Night tour in search of Yucatan poorwill, Northern Pottoos,Owls and more. Breakfast Lunch, Dinner & Overnight Bird’s Eye View Lodge.

Day 3 BIRIDNG BY BOAT/ CRYSTAL PARADISE – We will do early morning birding by boat on the lagoon of Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Water birds will be the main target with special emphasis on finding the Jabiru, Sungrebe, Boat-billed herons and Agami herons. Depart for Crystal Paradise Belize after a late breakfast with and optional stop at the Belize Zoo and for lunch at one of the local restaurants. We check into our accommodations at Crystal Paradise and are free to explore the grounds one of the few birds we can easily see as we arrive may include the lesson’s motmot banded backed wren and an array of tanagers. Lunch at Amigos on the road, Dinner and Overnight Crystal Paradise

DAY 4: MOUNTAIN PINE RIDGE/ SLATE CREEK CANYON – Early departure to the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Here we have the opportunity to see yellow faced Grassquits, Rufous-capped Warblers, Acorn Woodpeckers, Yellow-backed Orioles and Golden-hooded Tanagers. Black headed Siskins can often  be seen flying in flocks. There is a strong possibility of seeing the Orange-breasted falcons and king vultures by The 1,000 Ft. Falls (Hidden Valley). We then make a visit to the slate creek canyon where we have seen the Lovely Cotinga 8 out of 10 trips other birds include Ornate hawk-eagle Black and White Hawk-eagle and the Stygian Owl. Breakfast, packed lunches, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

DAY 5: CRYSTAL PARADISE/TIKAL – Travel 1 ½ hr drive into neighboring Guatemala to visit a very important Maya site. Located in the Peten lowland of Guatemala, this huge Classic Period Maya site, rich in jungle flora and fauna, is considered one of the world’s premier Archaeological Reserves. The park consists of 225+ square kilometers Guided tour of Tikal Maya site itself which offers great birding opportunities. Some of the birds we hope to see include the Toddy-Motmot, Stubtailed Spadebill, White-whiskered puffbirds, Slaty-tailed Trogons, Orange-breasted Falcons, Ocellated Turkeys, Crested Guans,  Montezuama Oropendolas and more. Breakfast at Crystal Paradise; Lunch, Dinner, & Overnight at Tikal Inn.

DAY 6: BIRDING IN TIKAL/ CAYE CAULKER – We wake up early have some coffee and bird the immediate area of the lodge within the park as we look for Ocellated-turkeys, Crested Guans, Pheasant Cuckoo, Yellow-bellied Tyranulet, Chestnut-collared Woodpeckers, Red-lored Parrots, Mealy Parrots, Brown-hooded Parrots and more. Leave Tikal after a late breakfast and drive to Belize City optional stops along the way to bird and have lunch at a local restaurant. Breakfast in Tikal & Overnight Seaside cabanas or Pura Vida Inn in Caye Caulker.

DAY 7: CAYE CAULKER BIRDING- SNORKEL AT CORAL GARDENS – Pre-breakfast bird walk on the reserve there as we look for the Cinnamon Hummingbird, Whimbrels, Black Catbird, Bananaquit, Yucatan Vireos, Rufous-necked Woodrail and more. Magnificent Frigate-birds and Brown Pelicans are commonly seen flying over the sea. Belize snorkeling tour departs at 10:30 to the Belize barrier reef. Belize is home to the second largest barrier reef and is teeming with marine life. We can swim in crystal clear waters with the sharks and Rays as we enjoy the many colorful fishes, turtles and other marine life. Overnight Seaside cabanas or Pura Vida Inn in Caye Caulker.

DAY 8: CAYE CAULKER TO BELIZE INT’L AIRPORT – Boat transfer Caye Caulker to Belize City Marine terminal and a short drive to BZE Int’l airport. Getting you there two hrs prior to your flight home after a fun filled birding vacation in Belize.

Day 1: ARRIVAL – BELIZE INT’L AIRPORT / CROOKED TREE – After clearing immigration and customs you are met by your Belizean guide  birding starts then keep your binoculars handy as we can see the ocassional bat falcon by the airport tower. We then travel  on the Northern Highway to Crooked tree village inside the wildlife sanctuary with stops along the way to view Savannah vultures, a number of flycatchers, herons and hawks. We then check into your accommodations in time for dinner. We will make stops along the way for birding. Day 4: CRYSTAL PARADISE – Morning bird-walk on the grounds at Crystal Paradise. Some of the birds we hope to see include an array of Tanagers, Tityras, and Parrots.  a number of woodcreepers, Flycatchers, Lesson’s Motmots, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls, Bat falcon, Green-backed sparrow,  a number of wrens and warblers and the Occasional Tody Motmot just to name a few. Easy day to hang out explore on your own.

Day 5: MOUNTAIN PINE RIDGE – Early departure to the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Here we have the opportunity to see yellow-faced Grassquits, Rufous-capped Warblers, Acorn Woodpeckers, Yellow-backed Orioles and Golden-hooded Tanagers. Day 6: El PILAR – We will make an early morning visit to El Pilar, a Maya site in Belize offering some of the best flora and fauna in the area. It is excellent for Belize birding, hiking, and provides an insight to Belize’s sub-tropical forests. We will make stops along the way to view birds such as the Collared Manakins and Honeycreepers, Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Tody Motmots, Euphonias, Olive-backed Euphonias, Yellow Tyranulet, Northern-barred Woodcreeper, White-whiskered Puffbirds, White-necked Puff-birds, Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Stub-tailed Spadebill, a Number of Trogons, an array of flycatchers etc. Breakfast, packed lunches, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

Day 7: MACAL RIVER CANOEING – Morning: Pre-breakfast bird-walk on the grounds at Crystal Paradise. Some of the birds we hope to see include  Collared Aracaris, Keel-billed toucans an array of Tanagers, Tityras, and Parrots. Lesson’s Motmot and the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls are also a common sight. Easy morning to hang out explore on your own after a late breakfast.

While canoeing we have the chance to see Neotropic Cormorants, Sungrebe, Mangrove Swallows, russet- naped Wood-rails, Amazon Kingfisher Green Kingfisher, Squirrel Cuckoos, and other wildlife that frequent the riverbanks such as iguanas sunning themselves on the rocks and trees. Breakfast, lunch, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

Day 8 BLUE HOLE NATIONAL PARK – We will depart in the morning for a stop at the Blue Hole National Park. The Blue Hole has a number of trails to hike within the park. Some of the unusual birds known to this area include White Hawks, Spotted-Wood Quails, Crested Guans, Lovely Cotingas, Keel-Billed Toucans, Red-Legged Honey Creepers, and Slaty-tailed Trogons,Cinnamon and Rose-throated Becards just to name a few. Breakfast, packed lunches and Overnight Bocawina lodge.

Day 9: COCKSCOMB BELIZE JAGUAR RESERVE – We will spend the morning birding in the Jaguar reserve, some of the birds we hope to see include crested Guans, Great Curassow, White-collared Manakins, Passerinis Tanagers, Rufous-breasted Spinetail Chestnut headed Oropendola the occasional Scarlet Macaw a number of Ant-wrens etc. Overnight Bocawina lodge.

Day 10: MAYFLOWER BOCAWINA NATIONAL PARK – After an early breakfast we go on a short drive to the Mayflower Bocawina National Park consisting of over 7,000 acres. It is home to waterfalls, lush vegetation and a wide variety of interesting birds such as the Keel-billed and Tody Motmots, Black faced Ant-thrush, Pygmy kingfishers just to name a few. Almost 200 species of birds have been recorded here. We then depart for the Belize city for a short boat ride to Caye Caulker. Overnight Sea side cabanas in Caye Caulker.

Day 3: CROOKED TREE WILD LIFE SANCTUARY/ LA MILPA – We will do early morning birding by boat on the lagoon of Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Water birds will be the main target with special emphasis on finding the Jabiru, Sungrebe and Agami herons, Boat-billed herons and more. Depart for la Milpa as we drive through savannahs, open farmland and later hardwood forest. Some of the birds we can expect to see on the drive to la Milpa are Short-tailed Hawk, Gray hawk, Laughing Falcon, Fork-tailed flycatchers just to name a few. Breakfast in Crooked Tree lunch on the drive, Dinner and overnight la Milpa.

Day 4 BIRDING AT LA MILPA – The La Milpa Lodge lies nestled deep in the forests of north western Belize. It is located only three miles from the third largest archaeological site in Belize. The La Milpa Archaeological Site is only one of at least sixty other archaeological sites found on the Rio Bravo area. We will bird throughout the day on the many trails as we look for green honeycreepers, an array of wrens, Pheasant cuckoo, Ocellated Turkeys, Great Curassow, Tinamous, Ornate Hawk-Eagles, Barred forest-Falcons, Scaled Pigeon, Buff-throated Foliage Gleaner, northern-barred Woodcreeper, Royal Flycatcher, Chestnut-collared woodpecker, Green shrike-vireo just to name a few. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and overnight la Milpa.

Day 5 LA MILPA LODGE/ CRYTSAL PARADISE – Early birding on the grounds as we enjoy a number of hummingbirds such as the Purple-crown Fairy, Long-billed Hermits and many other birds. Depart after a late breakfast and drive through the rainforest on the backroads instead of the highway as we make our way from northern to western Belize. On the drive we can have a chance and hope to see other wildlife such as Jaguars, Margays, Pumas, Red brocket deer, Peccaries and more. A number of birds such as the laughing Falcon, Crested Guans, Black Hawk-Eagle, Black and white Hawk-Eagle, Brown- hooded parrots, Mealy parrots, and more. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

Day 7: CARACOL (FULL DAY) – After breakfast we drive to Caracol The road travels through the Mountain pine ridge and over a series of creeks, through lush tropical forest and pine forest, habitat for a variety of bird species. The highest canopy Belize rainforest is home to several species of cats, as well as rare birds such as the Keel-Billed Mot Mot, Northern Emerald-Toucanet, and Blue Ground Dove. A wide variety of orchids, vines and trees are also found in the area. This site is home to the tallest man-made structure in Belize, Canna (sky palace), standing some 143 ft above the plaza floor. This tour can be combined with a visit to the Rio Frio Caves and the Rio On Pools on the way back. Here we have the opportunity to see Tody Motmot, Buff-throated Foliage gleaner, Black-cheeked Woodpecker, Golden-hooded Tanagers. Rufous Piha, Rusty sparrows, Olive-backed Sparrows, Green-backed Sparrow, Bat Falcon, Gray headed kite, Great Black Hawk, Scarlet Macaws, king Vultures, Strong Billed Woodcreeper and many more.

Day 8: BLUE HOLE NATIONAL PARK / BOCAWINA NATIONAL PARK -We will depart in the morning for a stop at the Blue Hole National Park. The Blue Hole has a number of hiking trails. Some of the unusual birds known to this area include White Hawks, Orange-billed sparrow, Barred Antshrike, Buff-throated Saltator, Keel-Billed Toucans,  Slaty-tailed Trogons, Cinnamon and Rose-throated Becards, Northern royal Flycatcher, Sulhur rumped flycatcher, a number of Northern Royal Flycatcher a number of antwrens and many more.  The northern Emerald-Toucanet recently nested by the visiting area. We have a packed lunch and there is option to go for a swim before we continue to Bocawina National Park. The Mayflower Bocawina National Park consisting of over 7,000 acres is home to waterfalls, lush vegetation and a wide variety of interesting birds such as the Keel-billed and Tody Motmots, Black faced Ant-thrush, Rufous Breasted Spinetail just to name a few. Dusky Antbird, Chestnut headed Oropendola, We arrive at the Bocawina lodge we check into our accommodation. We make the best of the late afternoon birding till dark.  Overnight Bocawina  jungle lodge.

Day 9: COCKSCOMB BELIZE JAGUAR RESERVE/ BOCAWINA – We will spend the morning birding in the  Belize Jaguar reserve. Some of the Belize birds we hope to see include Crested Guans, Great Curassow, Ruddy Quail-Dove, Slaty breasted Tinamou, Great Tinamou, White-collared Manakins, Passerini’s Tanagers, Dot-winged Antwrens, Chestnut headed Oropendola the occasional Scarlet Macaw a number of Ant-wrens etc. We return to Bocawina lodge. Rest the mid-afternoon and we go owling after dinner. For a number of yrs now the Spectacled owl among other species have been nesting here. We hope to see a number of birds and mammals on the night walk. Some mammal we may see include, the Kinkajou, Ocelot, Jaguarundi. And the illusive Jaguar we normally see their tracks.  Overnight Bocawina Jungle lodge.

Day 10: BOCAWINA NATIONAL PARK/ AIRPORT – Early birding before breakfast on the grounds and leave for airport to arrive 2 hrs prior to your international flight. This tour to yield around 275 to 300 species of birds.

Day 1: ARRIVAL – BELIZE INT’L AIRPORT / CROOKED TREE – After clearing Belize immigration and customs you are met by your guide and travel the Northern Highway to Crooked tree village inside the Belize wildlife sanctuary and check into your accommodations in time for dinner. There will be areas to stop for birding along the way. Dinner & Overnight Bird’s Eye View Lodge

Day 2: CROOKED TREE – We will spend most of the day birding on the Crooked Tree Reserve trails and along the lagoon side. Some of the birds we may see include Purple Gallinule, Bare-throated tiger heron, an array of Kingfishers, Snail kites, Savannah Vultures, Spotted Sandpipers Solitary Sandpipers, Vermillion Flycatchers, Social flycatchers, Kingbirds, Yucatan Jays, Rufous browed Peppershrike, Bobwhites, Yucatan Woodpeckers and more. Night tour in search of Yucatan poorwill, Northern Pottoos, Owls and more. Breakfast Lunch, Dinner & Overnight Bird’s Eye View Lodge

DAY 3: CROOKED TREE/ CRYSTAL PARADISE – We will do early morning birding by boat on the lagoon of Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. Water birds will be the main target with special emphasis on finding the Jabiru, Sungrebe, Boat-billed herons and Agami herons. Depart for Crystal Paradise after a late breakfast with and optional stop at the Belize Zoo and for lunch at one of the local restaurants. We check into our accommodations at Crystal Paradise and are free to explore the grounds one of the few birds we can easily see as we arrive may include the lesson’s motmot, banded backed wren and an array of tanagers. Lunch at Amigos on the road, Dinner and Overnight Crystal Paradise

Day 4: El PILAR – We will make an early morning visit to El Pilar, a Maya site in Belize offering some

of the best flora and fauna in the area. It is excellent for Belize birding, hiking, and provides an insight to Belize’s sub-tropical forests. We will make stops along the way to view birds such as the White-collared Manakins and Honeycreepers, Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Tody Motmots, Euphonias, Olive-backed Euphonias, Yellow Tyranulet, Northern-barred Woodcreeper, White-whiskered Puffbirds, White-necked Puff-birds, Rufous-tailed Jacamars, Stub-tailed Spadebill, a Number of Trogons an array of flycatchers etc. Breakfast, packed lunches, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise

Day 5: MOUNTAIN PINE RIDGE – Early departure to the Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Here we have the opportunity to see yellow-faced Grassquits, Rufous-capped Warblers, Acorn Woodpeckers, Yellow-backed Orioles and Golden-hooded Tanagers. Blue-black Grosbeak, Black-headed Siskins can often be seen flying in flocks. There is a strong possibility of seeing the Orange-breasted falcons and king vultures by The 1,000 Ft. Falls (Hidden Valley). We have seen the Lovely Cotinga 8 out of 10 trips other birds include Ornate hawk Eagle, Black-and-white hawk-eagle, and the Stygian Owl. Breakfast, packed lunches, Dinner and overnight Crystal Paradise.

Day 6: MACAL RIVER CANOEING Morning: Pre-breakfast bird-walk on the grounds at Crystal Paradise. Some of the birds we hope to see include Collared Aracari, Keel-billed Toucan, Tanagers, Tityras,  Scrub Euphonias, White crowned Parrots, White-fronted Parrots.  Olive-throated parakeets, Lesson’s Motmots, Band-backed Wrens, Lineated woodpeckers,  Golden olive woodpecker, white-bellied Emerald hummingbird, Wedge-tailed Sabrewing and the Ferruginous Pygmy-Owls are also a common sight. Easy morning to hang out explore on your own after a late breakfast.

Afternoon: Macal River canoeing. While canoeing we have the chance to see Neotropic Cormorants, yellow tailed orioles, Northern water thrush Mangrove Swallows, Amazon Kingfishers, Green Kingfishers, Russet-naped Wood-rails, Black Phoebe, Squirrel cuckoos, Montezuma Oropendola, and other wildlife that frequent the riverbanks such as iguanas sunning themselves on the rocks and trees. Day 7: DEPARTURE – Return transfer to Belize City or International Airport after a great Birding in Belize vacation.

Day 5: BLUE HOLE/ BELIZE CITY/ CAYE CAULKER – We will depart in the morning for a stop at the Blue Hole National Park.
The Blue Hole has a number of trails to hike within the park. Some of the unusual birds known to this area include White Hawks, Spotted-Wood Quails, Northern Emerald-Toucanet, Crested Guans, Keel-billed Toucans, Great Antshrike, Northern Royal flycatcher, Black-cheeked Woodpecker, Cinnamon and Rose-throated Becards, Great Antshrike, Orange-billed Sparrow just to name a few. Drive to Belize city and board water taxi for a 45 minutes boat ride to Caye Caulker. Overnight at Seaside cabanas or Pura Vida Inn in Caye Caulker.

Day 6: CAYE- CAULKER-CORAL GARDENS MARINE RESERVE – Pre-breakfast bird walk on the reserve there as we look for the Cinnamon Hummingbird, Whimbrels, Black Catbird, Bananaquit, Yucatan Vireos, Rufous necked Wood-rail and more. Magnificent Frigate-birds and Brown Pelicans are commonly seen flying over the sea. Belize snorkeling tour departs at 10:30 to the Belize Marine Reserve. Belize is home to the second largest barrier reef and is teeming with marine life. We can swim in crystal clear waters with the sharks and Rays as we enjoy the many colorful fishes, turtles and other marine life. Overnight Seaside cabanas or Pura Vida Inn in Caye Caulker.

DAY 7: CAYE TO BZE VIA WATER TAXI – Boat transfer to Belize City Marine terminal for a short drive to BZE Int’l airport for your flight home after a fun filled birding vacation in Belize.

Day 4: LAGUNA AGUACATE/WETLANDS – After an early breakfast we drive to Laguna Aguacate near the Mennonite community of Spanish Lookout. We encounter many different habitats on this trip, such as savannah, open farmland, and subtropical forest around the lake. In the open land and pastures it is easy to find vermillion flycatchers, fork-tailed flycatchers, yellow-rumped warblers, Crested Caracara, White-tailed kites, Laughing Falcons, Aplomado falcon. A number of herons, Teals and sand pipers, Black necked Stilts, Jabiru stork, An array of woodcreepers such as the northern barred, Strong billed, Ivory billed, You can easily see the Gartered Trogon, Black headed Trogon, Slaty-tailed Trogon and the occasional Collared Trogon. White -whiskered and the White-necked Puffbirds, Rufous tailed Jacamars, Chesnut-collared woodpecker, Plain Xenops and much more.
